2016 Annual Conference--What a conference it was!
Evening Peer Support Group Networking Reception
Thanks to Nonstop Wellness for the fun reception! All year round, we work hard sharing best practices and exchanging ideas for improving care. It was nice to have some time to enjoy the company of our peers and connect with folks we have not seen in a while.
Breakout Breakfast: Empathy in Action
What do you get when you have current event clips, a dynamic psychiatrist, two substance abuse counselors, Special Population buttons, a yoga instructor and four service dogs? You get a great program that generates positive feedback and a deeper understanding for the work we do. We received outstanding support from Project Hope’s CEO Pat Deshields and social worker, Brian Colangelo who shared their work and wisdom with the dynamic Dr. Salaam. We were provided with moving insight from AtlantiCare team members, Mark Manganelli and Vinny Kirkland. We are emboldened to continue to take risks and let the mission of our organization continue to challenge us to present the best programming possible.
2016 Healthcare Heroes Luncheon
Oh what a luncheon! With the sponsorship of Aetna banners that hung like autumn leaves from the ceiling, we benefited from the appraisal, challenges and innovation of our speakers’ experiences from New Jersey Senate President, Steve Sweeney, NJPCA Chair and Ocean Health Initiatives CEO Theresa Berger, Doug Smith from Greene County Healthcare in North Carolina, Alex Romillo of Health Choice Network in Florida to Darrin Anderson from the Partnership of Health Kids in New Jersey. We are so grateful for the innovative artistry of Miri Ben-Ari and her team for making her appearance possible. Recognizing the special talent and unwavering commitment of our colleagues during the Luncheon’s Healthcare Hero awards is our favorite part of the day!
Workshops and Learning Intensives
Most importantly, the feedback from the learning sessions have been phenomenal. Both from evaluations and anecdotally, we understand that Center teams appreciated the wide range of topics and the level of instruction, rating it better than ever. We were fortunate to have top tier amazing speakers who engaged their audiences and provided current best practices on a wide array of subject areas.
Sponsors and Exhibitors
Finally, a huge thank you to the sponsors and exhibitors who make this event possible every year. We enjoy the crush of people as we make our way around the exhibitor booths, and learn about a variety of products and services that help us provide better care to our patients.
Just a few post conference comments:
"I must pass congratulations on to you and your staff regarding your recent NJPCA conference in AC. Your event staff were all extremely friendly and always anxious to help. Your content was powerful, it made me think and occasionally shed a tear or two. I'm sure I will see you soon and very much look forward to helping you nurture your vision for your organization. I'm sure we will become an extremely valued partner and eventually a real feather in your cap. Thanks again!" - Jerry Wanio, Rx Review. LLC
"Hope you and your team are still in the glow of an amazing conference albeit I am sure pretty exhausted. Wanted to thank all of you and applaud you for a great two days of learning, networking and celebration. I also want to thank you and your team for the warm welcome you extended to our organization and to each of us. Alvaro, Alison and I left the conference excited and energized. It was truly fantastic, complete with amazing speakers, interactive workshops, wonderful FQHC staff and colleagues and a tribute to Healthcare Heroes by the incredible and talented Miri Ben-Ari. It was a perfect blend of all things crucial to our common goals and mission. Thank you again and we look forward to our continued collaboration." - Christina Faber, American Cancer Society
"I want to congratulate you and your team for a successful and incredible conference! I have never being to a kind of a conference and/or meeting of the minds before like the one NJPCA just did, well done! Also, thank you so much for inviting me to be a presenter at the conference, it was such an honor." - Helen Dao, Dao Management Consulting
"Please convey my thank you to the entire NJPCA team for such an awesome 2 days. You guys really out did yourselves.” - Dr. Steven Levin, Eric B. Chandler Medical Center
"Thank you so so much for the opportunity to be a part of the Empathy in Action session this past week at the NJPCA conference. It was an honor to be a part of such an innovative session that helped begin to put the humanity back into human services. Burnout is a big problem and self-care is essential - I just mentioned to Dr. Salaam how great it would be to have a longer session called "Compassion Put into Practice" - both the medical/behavioral health and the self care practices. Something to tuck away in the thinking cap! :) Thank you again. Some folks don't quite know what happened that morning, but you planted many truly important seeds with your message. I'm inspired by your innovation and heart!" - Rebecca Polan, Thames Street Yoga
"I wanted to say THANK YOU for a great conference and the invitation to be part of such a great event. I do a lot of these annually but one thing always sticks out – in your NJPCA conference the items that impressed me the most was the TEAMWORK and ALIGNMNET. You should all be very proud of your success! Congratulations again and to your health centers!" - Alejandro M. Romillo, Health Choice Network Inc.
"Thank you again for the wonderful experiences at the NJPCA conference – myself and staff returned to work with renewed energy and valuable resources!" Patricia DeShields, Project H.O.P.E
Thank you for attending and helping to make it a great conference! We will be at a new hotel next year and are already planning on bringing you our very best just as all the Centers do when they provide patients with the best care possible.
